How to use the analysis board
- Move the pieces for both sides. The computer shows its three best moves with arrows and lines.
- Click a line to play the computer's move on the board.
- The arrow keys step back and forth, f flips the board.
- Review the game compares every move with the best move in the same position. Every move gets a grade, from brilliant (!!) to blunder (??), and both players get an accuracy. Drag along the curve to move through the game, and tap a grade to see the moves that got it.
- Lavi's card explains each move. From there you can try to find a better move yourself, see the better move, and see how the game could have gone on. If you played one of the house players, you can read what your opponent was thinking before each of their moves.
How strong is the analysis?
The computer calculating here is Lavi, the same one you face when you play the strongest player in the house. Here it gets to think even longer. It finds the solution to almost all of our hardest puzzles.
Are my games sent anywhere?
No. The computer calculates in your own browser. Nothing you paste in is sent to us.
What do +1.20 and M3 mean?
The evaluation is in pawns, from White's point of view: +1.20 means White is about a pawn and a fifth better. M3 means mate in three moves; a minus sign means Black is winning.
