Black to play and mate in two.
Your opponent moves…
What is attraction?
Attraction, also called a decoy, forces one of your opponent's pieces onto a particular square, usually with a sacrifice that has to be taken. The square is chosen with care: there the piece walks into a fork or a pin, or gets in the way of its own king.
Most often it's the king that gets lured out. A sacrifice near the king is taken, and suddenly the king stands where your pieces can check it with tempo, or where a knight can fork king and queen.
Think backward: on which square would you like your opponent's king or queen to stand? Can you force it there? Then you've found the attraction.
How the puzzles work
There are 150 puzzles here. Choose a level above the board. Within each level the puzzles get harder and harder, and when you come back you pick up where you left off.
Your opponent makes the first move, then it's your turn. If you get stuck, Hint shows which piece to move, and Show the solution plays the rest. The theme only shows once the puzzle is done, but here you already know what you're looking for.
In Puzzle training you get puzzles in this theme at your own level, and see how you're doing in each theme.
